For large energy users, audits of demand and usage patterns help identify opportunities to shift certain operations to off-peak billing periods. This can reduce demand charges and also allow the customer to participate in specialized demand- and price-response programs offered by local utilities and the regional independant system operator (ISO-NE). These programs offer credits to the customer for reducing demand when system capacity is constrained or when commodity prices are high. We expect the role of these programs to increase as utility rate structures migrate towards a "real-time" pricing model. DMI provides the metering and analysis services to asses the value of these opportunities.
